Additional Equipment and Maintenance History

2007 Nordic Tugs 54 Jappeloup

Special Features and outfitting

DESCRIPTION  Jappeloup is the only three cabin 54 Nordic Tug afloat. This beautifully appointed Tug has been given top notch care and maintenance by her experienced owners. In addition to three staterooms there are two large heads, a spacious galley, a large salon and exceptionally large pilothouse with a "sky lounge" that will seat 4-5 adults. Rich teak joinery accents the interior from stem to stern.

SALON  The salon was upgraded by the current owners with a port side couch that converts to a queen-size bed. The custom salon folding table is removable to enable unencumbered living space. The stereo cabinet was modified with decorative glass panel inserts. All upper galley cabinets were also modified with glass panel inserts. A new aft salon Dutch door with snap in privacy curtain and roller bug screen was added in 2015.

GALLEY  The galley has a four burner gas cooktop and a large microwave/convection oven, plus a Fisher Paykel dishwasher. A custom over-counter cabinet was installed by the current owners to increase galley storage space. There are two Sub-Zero refrigeration units; the port unit is a frig/freezer and the starboard is a refrigerator, which was installed new in 2019.  A separate Sub Zero freezer is in the utility area. There is also an ice maker. The galley has lots of counter space and is a nautical cooks dream.

FLOORING  The current owners installed new high-end carpet throughout the boat upon purchase in 2010 and in 2020 Amtico vinyl flooring was installed in the galley and pilothouse high traffic areas. Additionally, sound deadening carpet padding was used when the carpeting was installed to further reduce engine noise.

MASTER CABIN  The large master suite is located at the bow with a good sized in-suite head compartment with stall shower. There is a drop-down TV in the overhead above the bunk (the current owners have not used the TV and does not guarantee its status). The owners had a new custom mattress made for the queen-sized bed. Closets and cabinets throughout the boat are cedar lined.

GUEST CABIN #1  There is a port side guest cabin with a couch that will sleep one comfortably but the seat back can be dropped in to position to convert to a queen size berth. This cabin also has cabinets, drawers and a hanging locker.

GUEST CABIN #2  The starboard guest cabin was converted from an office by the current owners into a bunk room with upper/lower single berths. There is generous storage in the lockers, drawers and cabinets.

GUEST HEAD  The guest is actually larger than the master head and features good floor space, a vanity and a large stall shower.

PILOT HOUSE and NAVIGATION  This large living area provides an excellent vantage point for safe navigating and entertaining. A staircase aft leads to the upper deck and there are opening doors port and starboard. Privacy curtains and roller bug screens are fitted to all opening doors. A wrap around exterior sun screen covers the forward windows. There is a fixed elevated helm chain on the centerline with additional seating to port and starboard for the crew. Full navigation instrumentation is within easy reach of the helm. Additionally, there is a centerline computer display that allows connection to either a laptop or dedicated house computer (the computer aboard is not included in the sale but all cabling will be left in place for the new owner). Two RayMarine E120 12” displays provide radar, plotter and depth. Please note that the Raymarine E120 depth function is intermittent and is not guaranteed to always work. However, there is a separate RayMarine depth meter that is reliable. Wesmar active stabilizers are fitted to dampen roll in an active seaway – last serviced in 2020. There are powerful bow and stern thrusters with controls at the pilot house, the cockpit steering station or by a handheld remote.

UTILITY AREA   Forward of the engine room door are separate washer and dryer units. For additional cold storage, a new Sub Zero Isotherm Cruise 90 stainless freezer was installed in 2016.

LAZERETTE   This spacious compartment is accessed through a large cockpit hatch and aft engine room door. This well engineered area holds the house batteries and the inverter, steering gear, stern thruster, and davit pump. There is also a Village Marine water maker (routine service pending). A 15 bottle wine chiller is perfect for cold beverages. The Glendenning shore power cord reel has both a cockpit control as well as a wireless remote for easy cord deployment and recovery. There is a spare 50 amp power cord and secondary 50 amp power jack on the pilot house starboard side for easy bow-in power hook up. Ample room for deck chairs assorted deck gear and maintenance supplies.

UPPER DECK  This deck is accessed from the pilot house rear steps or by a ladder from the cockpit. There is a Boss 10’ 6” hard sided dinghy with a 2015 Yamaha 15HP with Doel-Fin lift foils. This dinghy looks like an inflatable but is solid and very stable. A Steelhead SM1000R davit with full hydraulic functions handles launch and recovery with ease. A large capacity fiberglass deck storage box is fixed mounted aft for assorted gear.

COCKPIT AND SWIM STEP  Wide swim step with staples for safe boarding. The generous cockpit is accessed from the swim platform through a centerline transom door.  There is a removable stainless ladder for hull side mounting for dock side boarding when needed. There is a ladder to access the upper deck to starboard. A storage cabinet to port also has a wet bar and cockpit steering station with engine, thruster and power cord reel controls. These aft controls allow the helmsman to back the boat into a slip for easy access/egress. There is also a BBQ, a H/C cockpit shower and a raw water wash down connection.

MAINTENANCE  Jappeloup has been professionally maintained and is in excellent condition mechanically and cosmetically. Recent projects include: 1) Reconfigured domestic fresh water filtration system in 2018 and new pressure pump in 2021  2) AGM house batteries replaced in 2019 3) AGM thruster, engine and generator start batteries in 2020 4) Vac-U-Flush pumps and tanks fully serviced in 2019 5) New larger Webasto hydronic cabin heat boiler system in 2019 6) Bottom paint in 2020 7) Wesmar stabilizer full service in 2020 8) Fluids, filters, impellers, belts all serviced and ready for summer 2021.

CONCLUSION  The Nordic Tugs 54 is a capable coastal cruiser with a practical open layout for NW cruising. The semi displacement hull form and Cummins power allow a comfortable 8.5 knot cruise (2500 mile range) or the ability run up to 14 knots when conditions warrant. If you are in the market for a clean and turn-key ready cruiser, look no further than Jappeloup. Call to arrange a showing today!

Jappeloup is a truly exceptional vessel that has been maintained and outfitted to a very high standard by her experienced owners of the past 11 years. Quality outfitting includes: Three stateroom & two head layout, Cummins QSM11 670HP with 900 hours, Reverso oil change system, Wesmar active stabilizers, bow and stern thrusters, Onan generator, Village Marine water maker, Boss 10' 6" dinghy with 15 Yamaha, 1000# Steelhead davit, cockpit steering station, full electronics and gourmet galley are just the beginning.

Compare the Nordic 54 to other vessels in her class and you will find a lot to like in the design. The hard chine semi-displacement hull is inherently stable. The Cummins will easily drive the boat at economical displacement cruising speeds (2000 mile range!) but can deliver 14 knots when needed. Her open interior layout makes life aboard comfortable and provides excellent visibility. Thinking Nordhavn, Selene, Krogen, Defever, Ocean Alexander? Think again...
